Tonight's board meeting will be held in the library. Tax rate hearing 5:45 and regular meeting directly after.
The agenda for tonight's board meeting is below. The Southwest school board does not allow public comment at board meetings unless approved 7 days ahead of time. If this becomes an issue anyone that is a disruption to our meeting will be escorted out.
Due to decreasing student participation we have struggled at Southwest this year to make a high school and junior high football team. Southwest has a strong history in 8 man football thanks to the continued support of the community. We have made the decision with the approval from MSHSAA to be released from the cooperative agreement with Tina-Avalon and Hale and enter into a cooperative agreement with Braymer for junior high and high school 8 man football. This decision was made jointly through the school boards and administration of both Southwest and Braymer. Unfortunately due to logistics we were not able to include junior high and high school cheer into this decision but will definitely make this a priority in future decisions. The Southwest and Braymer school districts both feel like this decision is in the best interest of our students. We will release game and practice schedules as soon as possible. The high school boys will not be eligible to play in tonight's jamboree and possibly the first regular season game due to eligible practices.
