Mickey and Martha Beach, representing the Missouri Lions, came to SW today to pick up 400 hot wheels donated by students. Pictured are Mickey and Martha (top center) the FBLA, FCCLA and Student Council students and 2nd grade.
The classes were challenged and 2nd grade brought in the most donations.
These donations will go to children in need at Children's Mercy.

It’s that time already Southwest friends! Get your yearbook order in! I have a feeling it’s going to be a great one this year! The kids have been super creative and working very hard to make sure the good memories last!

The fall/winter season is upon us. Our district staff understands that our decision to open or close schools in bad weather has a big effect on families. We also understand that our students are better served both academically and socially by being in school. Our top priority is always the safety of our students.
When weather or other situations occur that call for the cancellation or early dismissal of school we will use the following methods of notification: Teacherease/Apptegy notification system (all guardians will be notified and students can be if we enter their cell phone number), Southwest mobile app, webpage live feed, and Southwest R-1 Facebook Page.
Please make sure that your children are dressed properly for the fall/winter weather (winter/fall coats, hats, and gloves).
